Celebrate Fascinating Thaitown 2026 this February and experience Lunar New Year in the heart of Haymarket. Discover vibrant Thai culture, indulge in authentic flavours, and enjoy festive performances as the Thaitown comes alive.

Thaitown Sydney invites you to start or finish your Lunar New Year celebrations in Thaitown, whether you’re exploring by day or soaking up the atmosphere at night. From vibrant streetscapes to late-night dining, Thaitown offers a lively gateway to the festivities.

Lunar New Year Festive Display
The spectacular Thaitown Lunar New Year wall mural and enchanting Thai lanterns return to Meriton Lane, transforming the laneway into a vibrant, immersive celebration of culture. This bold and colourful display will be on display from 1 February to 2 March 2026.

We’re thrilled to share that the City of Sydney has commissioned a brand-new Thaitown Lunar New Year installation, set to be unveiled on 7 February. Stay tuned as this exciting display takes shape!

We’re proud to announce that a talented Thai artist has been selected as one of eight featured in the Sydney Lunar Festival Banner Gallery. This outdoor public art installation, celebrating the Year of the Horse 2026, will be on display from 12 February to 1 March 2026. Across the precinct, Chinatown brings the Fire Horse to life, with a striking installation rising  above Dixon Street and a glowing canopy of lanterns lighting up Hay Street. The laneways of Haymarket will come alive with a vibrant street festival, welcoming the Year of the Horse with colour, light, and celebration.

Sydney Lunar Streets – Haymarket street festival on 14th of February
This year, Thaitown joins the City of Sydney’s Haymarket Street Festival, with Lunar Streets extending to Campbell Street — the heart of Thaitown. Campbell Street will be transformed into a vibrant street festival, featuring DJs, markets, street food, and a mix of traditional and contemporary performances.

Thai Community Event: From 10am to 9pm
-Thai Community Market at Meriton Lane on Campbell Street
- DJ at Doo Dee King

Cultural and Live Performances: From 5pm to 10pm
- Thai Pop Singer & The Band (Esarn Dance Party)
- Thai Boxing Show (Muay Thai)
- Long Drum Procession starting from the Thai Kiosk (Corner of George and Campbell Street) Feel the pulse of the drums and be part of this vibrant celebration and community, as we honour and welcome the Year of the Horse

Thai Beer Garden: From 5pm to 10pm
Celebrate the Lunar New Year at Thaitown’s Beer Garden — a taste of Thailand right in Haymarket at the front of Capital Thai restaurant.

Lunar New Year Dance Performance
Community performers and lion dancers will be showcasing their talents in Thaitown streets on the corner of Campbell and George Street. The street performances will fill the city with colour, music, and movement, courtesy of the City of Sydney. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to get up close and experience the Sydney Lunar Festival in Thaitown, with performances from a host of talented local artists bringing the celebrations to life.
